Two Exciting Workshops to Help You

Morning Session: 10:00am - 1:00pm
Building an Acting Career

This first session is called Building an Acting Career because successful actors spend the time to actively BUILD their careers from the ground up. They do not wait around and hope to get discovered.

In 2008, I was still a full time computer programmer with ZERO acting experience.  Today, I have been booked on well over 100 jobs ranging from SAG feature films, network television shows, commercials, corporate videos, and everything in between. I am represented by nine talent agencies and have booked work in 11 states.

None of this happened by accident. The countless hours I spent studying the business of acting and how to navigate the industry have been a tremendous contributor to my success. This is what I want to share with you.

Self-Tape Amazing Auditions From Home

I could sit here and preach to you about how important self-taping is going to be for your career. But I think a story will illustrate my point more clearly.
A few months ago I met an actor who booked a recurring role on THE WALKING DEAD with a single self-taped audition. No callback, no casting director meeting, nothing. That one taped audition landed him the part. Oh, and The Walking Dead shoots in Georgia. This actor does not live in Georgia. He submitted an audition to a show while living across the country. See the value in self-taping auditions?
I self-taped my own audition for the role of Craig Lam in the upcoming FOX television series Shots Fired. On that show, I had the incredible opportunity to work with OSCAR winners Richard Dreyfuss and Helen Hunt. As an actor living in Ohio, there is no way I would have been able to audition for a show filming in North Carolina had it not been for my ability to self-tape my own audition video.

About the Instructor

Kurt Yue is a former computer programmer who stumbled into his first acting class in 2008. As a professional actor, Kurt has had the opportunity to work with great actors such as Richard Dreyfuss (OSCAR winner), Helen Hunt (OSCAR winner), Maggie Gyllenhaal (OSCAR nominee), Carrie-Ann Moss (The Matrix), and Caitlin Fitzgerald (Masters of Sex).

He attributes much of his success to his diligent study of the business side of acting. Just because someone is a good cook doesn't mean they can run a successful restaurant. By the same reasoning, just because someone is a good actor doesn't mean they will book a lot of jobs. In both cases, learning how the industry works and how to stack the deck in your favor will lead to much better odds of success.

This understanding of how to navigate the business side of acting has helped Kurt secure representation with nine talent agencies across the country, book work in 11 states, appear in multiple feature films and television shows, and ultimately quit his day job to pursue acting full-time, all while living in the extremely small market of Cleveland, Ohio.

Marc Stevens ( Web Design Media )

“Everything Kurt taught in the workshop was extremely helpful and valuable, and the example videos he showed of his personal auditions made it all come together and helped to solidify where I'm going wrong and what I'm doing right. The workshop was inspiring!”
